In the opening statement in the letter to the Romans, Paul says of himself he is a servant of Christ. Here is an insight into his vibrant faith and holy life. You and I as well are called to be servants of Christ, however it cannot be motivated by hope of reward or out fear of punishment. In the life of a Christian as it was with Paul, to be a servant describes the individual “who gives himself up to another’s will, those whose service is used by Christ in extending and advancing His cause among men, devoted to another to the disregard of one’s own interests.” If we are to gain eternal life at last and be victorious in the Christian experience now, we need to recognize in Christ we “are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.” Romans 6:22, New Living Testament - Download PDF - |
